Configuring Outlook 2007 for POP/IMAP

1.  Open Outlook. If the Account Settings dialog box doesn't open automatically, do the following:

2.  On the Tools menu, click Account Settings.

3.  In the Account Settings dialog box, on the Email tab, click New.

4. On the Auto Account Setup page, do not enter any information. At the bottom of the page, click in the check box next to Manually configure server settings or additional server types. Click Next.

5.  On the Choose E-mail Service page, select Microsoft Exchange, POP, IMAP, or HTTP and then click Next.

6.  In Add New Email Account window, provide the following information:

  • User Information:
    • Your Name: enter the name you want users to see when you send email from this account.
    • Email Address: enter your MSO email address.
  • Server Information:
    • Account Type:  IMAP or POP3
    • Incoming mail server:
    • In the Outgoing mail server (SMTP):
  • Logon information:
    • User Name:  your name (first.last)
    • Password: your MSO password

Do NOT check Require login using Secure Password Authentication (SPA).

14.  On the Congratulations page, click Finish.

15.  The Account Settings window will display. Click Close.

16.  To begin using your account, at the next screen, enter your user name (UM\first.last) and password.
