Video Conferencing
P&TS provides two forms of video conferencing to the campus community, H.323 and Access Grid Node. Depending on the type of equipment at the distant location, one of these two forms may be used for the conference. H.323 provides a single "active voice switched" video stream for multiple sites. H.323 is analogous to traditional "MetNet" technology, but uses updated A/V equipment and carries signals between sites over the internet rather than leased ISDN phones lines. An operator is required. Access Grid Node is an emerging video conferencing platform, providing multiple video streams between multiple sites. Multiple video streams allow for greater audience presence, sharing of computer presentations, and other application displays. Due to the technical nature of AGN, an operator is required for each session.
