3rd Party Credential Breaches

In recent months there have been a few high profile instances of credential breaches at major internet companies (actual breaches occurred between 2011 and 2013).  These breaches include companies like tumblr, linkedin, and myspace.  There are a few important things to note if you are a user of these services.

How does this affect me?

If your credentials were stolen, malicious actors will try and use those credentials to log in to other sites/services.

What do I need to do?

Change the passwords for any stolen accounts and accounts that share that password.  Do not reuse passwords for multiple sites.  Password management software can make it easy to have strong, unique passwords for all of your accounts. Please contact your IT professional for information.
