OCR document converter service
IT's document converter service automatically converts image-based PDFs and images into text-based electronic documents. The conversion process turns inaccessible scanned images into accessible and searchable documents.
You will receive both a text-basedpdf and a word processing document from the convertdoc service. You can edit the second document and save it as a fully accessible .pdf (for information on editing select Documents on the right)
Optical character recognition (OCR) conversion is done using ABBYY Recognition Server.
How to request the service
Send an email message to firstname.lastname@example.org from a University of Montana email account with the document you want converted attached. You should receive a return email with your converted document in text-based PDF format attached within a few minutes.
Who can use the service
The document conversion service is available to all UM students and employees. You must use a UM email address to access the service.
For help with document conversion, contact the IT Central Help Desk at 243-4357 or visit Social Sciences 120, Monday-Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
