Mac support


IT Central provides support for University of Montana owned Mac computers. This includes installing licensed software, configuration, troubleshooting and installation of components and/or replacement of defective components. Details of service are as follows:

 

University-owned computers

Personal computers

 

Note: Laptops that are under warranty must be taken to an authorized repair technician/dealer.

Note: IT Central cannot provide hands-on maintenance or repair of any non-university computer.

Software

Load all licensed software: Microsoft Office for participating departments, Norton Antivirus, VPN (for wireless access), department-owned software.

Provide suggestions for access to Malware removal tools, Adobe reader, and other legal downloads.

Provide instructions on and oversight of loading licensed software.

Clinic Times (info on specific time as this is available)

System

Perform general maintenance and upkeep activities: disk defragmentation, cached and temporary file removal, antivirus scan and definition update, configuration review.

Reformat disk drives with best faith effort relative to data backup and recovery.

Hardware

Add memory, network cards, and video cards.

Replace hard drive, CD/DVD drives, and power supply

Inquire for possible partnership with local dealers for university discounts.
