Connecting for the first time
IMPORTANT NOTE: Close out of all other Windows Live accounts prior to beginning this process. This includes closing completely out of your browser and then reopening it. This will clear out all cached sessions that will interfere with the activation process.
From a web browser, go to: www.umt.edu/umconnect
On the Login page, enter your NetID and Password. Click Login.

On the Account Setup - Connecting for the first time screen, an initial password will display.
Write down the password as you will need it on the following screen and when you change your password once you have logged into UMConnect.

After you have read the screen, click on the Activate button.
A Windows Live screen will display.

Follow the steps below (in red) to activate your account.


At the Microsoft Outlook Web App screen, if you have low vision and use a screen reader, you can select a light version of UMConnect. Note that if you select this version, some features may not be available. The default language is English. Select GMT-07:00 Mountain Time (US & Canada) time zone and then click OK.

7. You are now in your UMConnect Inbox. We encourage you to change your password during this first visit. Always Sign Out of your UMConnect account (upper right corner of your Inbox) and close your browser when you are finished.

If you access your UMConnect account through another web site (i.e. outlook.live.com or outlook.live), you will have to use your Windows Live login (NetID@umconnect.umt.edu) and password you setup during the activation process.
