AN UNPARALLELED OPPORTUNITY:

The University of Montana has a current position opening for a talented biomedical/pharmaceutical scientist who can help to address the aims of an endowment program grant from the National Center for Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIH-NCMHD). The opening is a tenure track position at Assistant or Associate Professor level. The appointment will be in the Department of Biomedical & Pharmaceutical Sciences or the Department of Pharmacy Practice.

The faculty member will have teaching responsibilities in the pharmacy (Pharm.D.) program and in graduate programs and will be expected to develop an extramurally funded research program that has the potential to support graduate students.

The College has graduate programs in biomedical sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, medicinal chemistry, neuroscience, and toxicology. Considerable research strength exists in both basic and clinical sciences particularly in cancer, cardiovascular, environmental health/toxicology, and neuroscience.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in the biomedical or pharmaceutical sciences or a Pharm.D. with research fellowship training.
  • Candidates with degrees in medicine or public health or in the final stages of doctoral training will be considered.
  • Teaching experience and a pharmacy background is desirable.
  • Program Overview/Environment

    The University of Montana, College of Health Professions and Biomedical Sciences, Skaggs School of Pharmacy, has been awarded an Endowment Program grant for increasing research and training capacity from the NIH-NCMHD (National Center for Minority Health and Health Disparities).

    The four major aims of this program are:
  • Creation of a more substantial health disparities research emphasis particularly relevant to the American Indian population,
  • Addition of American Indian faculty,
  • Enhancement of the recruitment, education, and training of minorities at both the professional and graduate levels, and
  • Formation of partnerships that foster both minority recruitment and health disparities research.
