The University of Montana-Missoula is seeking a versatile person who would be involved in all areas of an established and grant-funded research program. The role will include varied activities such as:
making decisions about data analysis
managing the daily operations of the tobacco lab along with four to six personnel
full grant management on accounting and administrative levels
As for the research requirements, the person in this position will be conducting additional analyses of data that are already collected as part of an ongoing smoking cessation study. The aims of this study are to better understand how the counseling process functioned within the on-going study and to more fully characterize college smokers' quit process. In addition, the person in the position will create standard operating procedures for all new and existing projects. The person hired will also implement these procedures and oversee all of the resources and team members of the tobacco lab. Finally, the person will manage the accounting and administrative details of a grants funded by federal and private foundation sources.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:
A master's degree in a related field
Experience in working in a research lab
Experience with Office software including databases
Experience working with grant accounting
Supervisory experience
Publication experience
Good oral and written communication skills
Knowledge and experience with human subject research methods Critical analysis skills in conducting research
Making analysis and study design decisions
Basic analysis of data
Experience with SPSS or other statistical packages
Experience with qualitative analysis or qualitative analysis software
Experience with event planning, including coordinating schedules, working with catering, and booking needed facilities and services
Knowledge of Motivational Interviewing and NVivo software, while not required, are preferred
Experience creating standard operating procedures and methods
Experience implementing new procedures in an existing environment
Experience supervising students and staff
Problem-solving and decision-making skills
Ability to work well with a variety of people
The ability to communicate (orally and in writing) scientific information
Knowledge of grant management practices and accounting, including grant communication, grant research coordination, scheduling, writing of progress reports, etc.
Knowledge of budgeting, financial planning and accounting principles and techniques, and cost control procedures
Knowledge of grant management Experience with generating administrative reports to maintain project timelines
Knowledge of grant management software, preferably experience with BANNER
Please note: The successful candidate must have the ability to begin employment within two weeks of hiring. This position is full time and is eligible for a full benefits package. The salary is commensurate with skills and qualifications and is competitive with peer institutions. This position is grant funded. Continued employment after 4/30/2011 is contingent on future funding.
