Primary Functions

  • Position is responsible for the preparation of Presidential correspondence and documents including proofreading, formatting, fact checking, and posting, as well as maintenance of support materials, and the electronic document catalog. Duties include, but are not limited to: maintaining the office database; coordinating Board of Regent meeting agenda items for all UM campuses; coordinating quarterly meeting of the Local Executive Board; serving as a technical liaison for the Office and performing Office system backups; performing backup reception; serving as administrative support to the Office of Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action

  • Position will demonstrate: ability to accurately proofread and edit materials; ability to write professional correspondence; intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook and Access; ability to maintain strict confidentiality and a professional demeanor at all times; effective interpersonal and communication skills—both verbal and written; ability to analyze complex information and discern trends; ability to organize, prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks with attention to detail; ability to accomplish tasks accurately and completely within deadlines
  • Minimum Job Qualifications

  • High school graduation and three (3) years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of professional office practices and procedures; business English, spelling, composition, and grammar, including the ability to write, edit, and layout documents in a variety of formats suitable for intended audience
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, public relations and communication skills including the ability to work with a diverse group of individuals
  • Demonstrated skill in fast, accurate keyboarding, proofreading and editing
  • Ability to analyze complex information and discern trends
  • Ability to maintain a consistently professional, personable demeanor
  • Demonstrated skill and ability to operate personal computers and related word processing, spreadsheet software and database software
  • Demonstrated skill and ability to operate standard office equipment: printers, copiers, fax machine, multi-line phone system
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and manipulate large databases
  • Demonstrated organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills and ability to meet deadlines in a busy environment
