Primary Functions

  • Provides administrative support for Director of Career Services. Duties include but are not limited to: assisting students with resume/cover letter preparation and review when Director is unavailable; acting as a liaison between job-seeking students and employers; organizing career planning workshops and two annual interview weekends (scheduling, coordination); developing promotional material including: the Career Services newsletter, Alumni Job Bulletin, advertisements, brochures, and PowerPoint presentations; entering jobs postings and monitors student applications using Griz e Recruiting; maintaining employment statistics on the most recent graduating class; promoting events

  • Performs tasks as requested by the Director of External Relations, including, but not limited to: administrative support, event planning and coordination; managing reunion accounts and budgets; compiling mailing and attendance lists; receiving reservations and checks; producing signs, name tags and programs; drafting and maintaining event checklists; assisting in set up, registration, and greeting attendees

  • Position requires knowledge of word processing including: WordPerfect, MS Word, and Acrobat, and has the ability to learn new programs or make changes to existing programs as needed; ability to navigate and conduct research on the internet using various browsers; ability to troubleshoot and solve problems while maintaining a professional, personable demeanor; effective communication skills to establish and maintain professional relationships with constituents; organizational, time management, prioritizing and multi-tasking skills and ability to meet deadlines in a busy environment with attention to detail
  • Minimum Job Qualifications

  • High school graduation and two (2) years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of professional office practices and procedures, business English, spelling, composition, and grammar
  • Effective public relations, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to provide professional positive customer service; ability to present information to others in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to track and monitor accounts and budgets
  • Ability to maintain detailed and accurate files and records
  • Demonstrated skill in the operation of personal computers and related word processing software
  • Ability to plan and organize related functions and events; prepare and produce promotional materials
  • Demonstrated ability to use standard office equipment; copiers, fax machine, ten-key adding machine, multi-line phone system
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
