Primary Functions

  • Position serves as first contact for the Department of Communicative Sciences & Disorders and provides administrative support to the Chair and faculty. Duties include but are not limited to: budget management (AR/AP, processing payment for travel and ProCard expenditures, gathering, analyzing, and interpreting financial and statistical data); editing correspondence; clerical and reception duties; collecting and organizing data/information; organizing and maintaining accurate files; preparing reports; providing information about the department and responding to inquiries from students, the campus community, and the general public; designs and produces informational publications such as programs, brochures, and flyers; hires, trains, and supervises student support staff; assists in preparing program curiculium materials; completing other duties as assigned

  • Position will demonstrate: knowledge of standard office practices and procedures: business English, spelling, grammar, punctuation and composition with the ability to edit materials; knowledge of principals and practices of budgeting, financial planning, accounting principles, and/or cost control procedures; ability to create and produce informational publications; ability to collect, organize, and analyze data; prepare reports; knowledge of or the ability to learn The University of Montana and department policies and procedures; demonstrated organizational, multi-tasking and time management skills; ability to complete tasks accurately and meet deadlines in a busy environment with attention to detail; effective interpersonal, public relations, and oral communication skills, including ability to work with diverse group of individuals and establish and maintain effective working relationships; knowledge of training and supervisory practices and procedures; ability to problem solve and make sound decisions; maintain strict confidentiality; skill in the operation of personal computers and related word processing, spreadsheet, database software (MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook) with the ability to learn new software; knowledge of operating, maintaining and troubleshooting standard office equipment: copiers, printers, fax machine, and multi-line phone systems; ability to work on projects independently and complete routine tasks with minimal to no supervision
  • Minimum Job Qualifications

  • High school graduation and three (3) years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to write, edit and lay out documents and materials in a variety of formats suitable for the intended audience
  • Effective public relations, interpersonal and oral communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with a diverse group of individuals
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and schedule meetings, events, and travel arrangements
  • Demonstrated skill and ability to operate personal computers, website management, related word processing, spreadsheet and database software
  • Demonstrated organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills and ability to meet deadlines in a busy environment with attention to detail
  • Knowledge of principals and practices of budgeting, financial planning, accounting principles, and/or cost control procedures
