Primary Functions

  • Position serves as the first point of contact for the main office of the College of Forestry and Conservation (CFC) which includes the outreach for student recruitment. Duties include, but are not limited to: providing primary administrative support to the Boone & Crockett program and director (including budget information and files) and will also provide administrative assistance to (but not limited to) the Director of Student Services, the Accountant, and the Assistant to the Dean(s). This includes the following tasks: answering phones; making appointments; scheduling of conference rooms, classrooms, reserved parking spot, equipment checking in/out; processing mail and distribution twice daily (including both incoming and outgoing mail); manage supplies and supply inventory; manage the credit card machine and deposits; assist with the student database and Student Records, the CFC scholarship program; undergraduate and graduate information and general filing systems; utilize Banner and other computer software as needed; filing, posting of information, dissemination of information, assist with special projects, errand running, other duties as assigned; performing outreach for student recruitment which includes maintaining contacts with feeder schools, high school counselors, community colleges, College of Technology and prospective students

  • Position will demonstrate: excellent interpersonal communication skills (both oral and written); knowledge of general University policies and procedures; general knowledge of all office equipment; knowledge of university general education requirement information; ability to handle difficult situations with students; understanding of both graduate and undergraduate programs in the CFC; knowledge, skills, and abilities to maintain accounting records and prepare budgets; knowledge of office management including multi-tasking, prioritizing, and event management; demonstrated organizational skills, problem solving, and flexibility; knowledge of Banner and budget information; skill in the operation of personal computers and associated software and programs such as Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, etc, maintain filing system, and process travel forms/records; ability to manage and maintain supplies and office equipment
  • Minimum Job Qualifications

  • High school graduation and two (2) years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of office reception, scheduling, transcription and mail handling
  • Effective interpersonal, public relations, and communication skills, including ability to work with a diverse population
  • Effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to complete tasks while paying attention to detail
  • Demonstrated skill in the operation of personal computers and related word processing, and database software with the ability to learn other software
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment and act with initiative
  • Knowledge of supplies, equipment and/or services, ordering, and inventory control
