Position is a dynamic role serving as the Coordinator for minority graduate programs and as the receptionist for the Graduate School. As the
Coordinator for minority graduate programs; the coordinator will demonstrate initiative to conduct the activities of the students to include but
not limited to: tracking student’s academic coursework, academic, social and financial advising; meeting with prospective students and giving
information about the science and math graduate programs at UM; researching funding opportunities for students; assisting students in
preparing scholarship and fellowship applications, designing programmatic materials and activities, developing programs or activities that
promote faculty/advisor/student relationships
Incumbent will: multi task while meeting deadlines; provide effective public relations, interpersonal and oral communication skills; be able to
establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse groups of people; illustrate effective written communication skills to write,
edit, and layout documents and materials in a variety of formats suitable for the intended audience maintain composure in stressful situations;
ensure confidentiality is maintained; learn and apply The University of Montana policies and procedures; demonstrate knowledge of standard
office practices and procedures; exercise sound judgment and problem solving skills; operate personal computers, related word processing,
spreadsheet and database software, and standard office equipment (copiers, fax machine, multi-line phones) with considerable skill; plan and
organize campus-wide training workshops; assess campus-wide Graduate School procedures and make adjustments as necessary; make and
oversee short-term decisions in relation to department or unit’s long-term goals; supervise, train, assign tasks to, and evaluate graduate student
employees; reconcile and resolve bookkeeping transactions and reconcile accounts; learn topics related to American Indian education and
culture in regard to graduate education; develop innovative cultural programs; learn grant practices and procedures

| Minimum Job Qualifications |
|
High school graduation and three (3) years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
|

| Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities |
|
Demonstrated knowledge of standard office practices and procedures
Effective interpersonal, public relations, and communication skills, including ability to work with a diverse population
Demonstrated skill in use of personal computers and related word processing, database, and spreadsheet software
Ability to plan and schedule meetings and events
Ability to maintain accurate records and files; maintain strict confidentiality
Demonstrated knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures
Ability to track and maintain financial records
