Primary Functions

  • Position is responsible for Microsoft network administrator functions especially with a complex Citrix terminal services environment requiring building and maintaining Windows and Citrix Metaframe servers; performing Active Directory administration; completing server maintenance and upgrades; conducing hardware and software testing; implementing virus and other security measures; serving as project leader and manager, developer, and team member; supporting senior personnel with performing Citrix application publishing and ongoing testing and support of new applications; supporting University-wide Griz Card systems and all related mission-critical hardware and software; assisting with the advanced systems troubleshooting; researching technical trends and new product developments; recommending new technology and coordinating their deployment

  • Position provides end-user training; facilitates IT communication and coordination of tasks and projects among users, supervisors, co-workers, members of the UM community, and members of the Resident Technology Assistant program; collaborates and assists with supervising student staff members; collaborates with other campus IT staff to analyze needs and develop, implement, and maintain a secure working environment

  • Applicants must have experience working with Microsoft networking; familiarity with domain controllers, name servers, file and print sharing and common administration tools and utilities; IT project experience and project management experience; the ability to share information and establish positive working relationships with a diverse population; knowledge of or ability to learn and apply federal and state security regulations

  • Position will demonstrate professional written and oral communication an understanding of transaction systems used for security access, vending, dining, and point-of-sale transactions (badging and card-printing systems, point-of-sale devices and various card readers); effective analytical and organizational skills; ability to work independently and as a team member; knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures; ability to balance competing needs of various groups interests and set priorities; ability to maintain field currency and research technical trends; ability to move related equipment; ability to work an irregular schedule including on-call situations; ability to travel on an occasional basis as needed to attend educational trainings

  • Minimum Job Qualifications

  • High school graduation and three (3) years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Experience with Microsoft networking environment; familiarity with domain controllers, name servers, file and print sharing and administration tools and utilities
  • Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated systems administration experience working with profiles, scripts, and Active Directory administration
  • Demonstrated experience with Windows 2000/2003 Active Directory, Citrix Metaframe
  • Familiarity with MS security issues, standard computing security procedures, and typical security policies
  • Proven understanding of transaction systems
  • Proven analytical and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply project management practices
  • Demonstrated experience with application support and server maintenance in a Citrix and/or terminal services environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures
