Position will work primarily in preparing vehicles for rent and secondarily performing special custodial duties, depending on the needs of the department. Person will also clean and perform minor maintenance to vehicles such as bulb changing and checking and filling fluids. Duties include, but are not limited to: detailing vehicles; maintaining and inspecting vehicles; scheduling/dispatching vehicles; providing daily and periodical custodial services in academic buildings; replacing paper products in restrooms and emptying waste baskets; checking for and reporting maintenance problems and hazardous situations; preparing and submitting repair or safety notices (irregularity slips) to work order staff; interacting and communicating with academic departments and campus community, general public and other Facilities Services departments in a pleasant and clear manner; supervising one to two (1-2) student employees in the absence of the Fleet Coordinator; scheduling rental vehicles; performing custodial support services for stat funded buildings and rental houses; responding to special cleaning requests for restrooms, sewage spills, rental houses and Academic buildings; providing vacation backup for other custodial staff as assigned
Position will demonstrate: knowledge of interior and exterior vehicle, equipment, and tool cleaning procedures; ability to quickly access cleaning need s and perform cleaning tasks in a n efficient manner; knowledge of vehicle safety standards as they relate to tire wear and air pressure, fluid levels, windshield wiper replacement, etc.; ability to perform minor vehicle maintenance such as bulb changing, checking and filling fluids; ability to schedule vehicles, coordinate with campus departments to meet their needs and ensure that the appropriate paperwork is submitted; knowledge of standard office practices and procedures; effective and professional communication skills, both oral and written; ability to use standard office equipment and personal computers; ability to problems solve and make sound decisions; knowledge of custodial techniques, supplies and equipment; skilled in cleaning all types of environments, including carpets; ability and knowledge to safely and properly clean up any type of body fluids; ability to work with little supervision and perform constant physical activity with some heavy lifting and carrying; ability to follow verbal and written instructions; ability to familiarize one’s self with the basic physical layouts of campus buildings and report any repairs needed on or in buildings; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and to communicate effectively, concisely and congenially with co-workers and customers

| Minimum Job Qualifications |
|
High school graduation and one (1) year of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience and demonstrated skill in the operation of equipment with the ability to learn the operation of new equipment
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in performing simple cleaning and custodial tasks
Ability to read and interpret cleaning instructions, safety information, policies and procedures
Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain a safe work environment
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
Effective interpersonal, public relations, and communication skills, including ability to work with a diverse population
Demonstrated time management and organizational skills with the ability to complete tasks while paying attention to detail

Must be able to perform constant physical activity: Lifting: ground to 36 inches, up to 50 #, Ground to 8 inches over head height, up to 25 #, Carrying: Front carry up to 25 #, for 50 feet or less; Pushing/Pulling: (during the use of tools) 70# maximum, 100 # sustained; Static trunk forward bending and twisting from a standing or crouching position while using tools; Reaching with your arms in all directions; Balancing when climbing and working on a ladder; Use of various grip circumferences and strengths as well as static grip positions during the use of various tools (4 1/2" to 5 1/2" circumference needing an average of 50# of grip force) and while manipulating various work materials (maximum 65#) A Physical Screen will be administered prior to a final offer of employment.
