Primary Functions

  • Position provides administrative support for Forest Management department chair, Resource Conservation Program director, Applied Forest Management Program director, and Lubrecht Forest Operations manager as needed. Duties include, but are not limited to: recording and maintaining faculty meeting minutes/notes for the Forest Management department and other programs and committees as needed; providing staff support to student experiential learning projects and maintaining the field equipment inventory system; overseeing the CFC student computer labs which includes scheduling and overseeing the student lab monitors; providing project support for experiential learning opportunities such as internships, field trips, camp preparation and course practicum’s; performing general office duties including typing, copying, scheduling, and transcription; making travel arrangements; processing travel forms and maintain their records; assisting with departmental and/or program needs of accounting records/budgets as necessary; maintaining and monitoring inventory (check-in and check-out of equipment); serving as Information Resource contact, primarily for Forestry majors; providing general office assistance to the departments main office area as needed; assisting with Newsletter needs as requested; providing assistance and/or coordination of miscellaneous special events including but not limited to: searches, retirements, special functions, etc.; performing additional duties as assigned

  • Position will demonstrate: knowledge of computer software including, but not limited to: Excel, Word, Access, Outlooks, Banner, FindW, and Dreamweaver; general knowledge of all standard office equipment such as copiers, fax machines and multi-line phone systems; ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and maintain records; knowledge of Banner and budget information; knowledge, skills, and abilities to assist with departmental and/or program needs of accounting records/budgets as necessary; ability to utilize Banner, FINDW, and other computer software as needed; knowledge of university, college, and department policies and procedures; knowledge of departmental by-laws and Unit Standards; general knowledge of all College of Forestry field equipment; ability to organize, and maintain records; effective interpersonal communication skills (both oral and written), adaptability, diplomacy, creativity, and resource knowledge for information distribution
  • Minimum Job Qualifications

  • High school graduation and two (2) years related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Effective interpersonal, public relations, and communication skills, including ability to work with a diverse population
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and schedule meetings, events, and travel arrangements
  • Demonstrated effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to complete tasks while paying attention to detail
  • Demonstrated skill in the operation of personal computers and related word processing, and database software with the ability to learn other software; ability to generate reports
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new policies, procedures, and programs
  • Knowledge of training and supervisory practice and procedures
