Renter Assistance: The position serves as the main resource for student when they are dealing with tenant/landlord issues; will provide tenant/landlord resolution services including but not limited to: running Student Renter Assistance Hotline (SRAH) which provides students with information pertaining to Montana tenant/landlord issues; empowering students so that they have the information and support to advocate for themselves within their tenant/landlord issues; working collaboratively with ASUM Legal Services to provide legal resources for students as necessary; providing referrals to non-student renters in need of tenant/landlord advocacy.
Education and Outreach: duties include: helping student make informed decisions in their search for housing by providing them information and advice; working to establish the Off-Campus Renter Center (OCRC) as a widely accessed resource when a student is either looking for housing or having tenant/landlord issues; regularly conducting outreach on campus and in the community; working to sustain and improve the relationship between students and Missoula neighborhoods, this includes identifying and developing tools to support problem solving between student renters and neighborhoods; and working in collaboration with local organization and agencies who have an interest in housing in Missoula.
Office management and development: duties include: developing and continually updating the Off-Campus Renter Center website with pertinent information regarding Montana tenant/landlord issues; working closely with the Student Housing Board to develop and implement the strategic plan; developing a system whereby students can report landlord satisfaction ratings
Policy Advocacy: advocating for the needs of student renters in the Missoula community; coordinating with the Student Political Action Director in policy advocacy work at both the local and state level; working to include pertinent student renter issues in the ASUM Legislative platform; representing the OCRC at relevant conferences, boards, and events.
Budget/fiscal: duties include: managing a budget of approximately $10,000; utilizing funds to implement and conducts education programs; preparing budget requests to be approved by ASUM.
This position will demonstrate: demonstrated ability to research and understand relevant housing trends and laws in order to advise students on their rights and their options when dealing with tenant/landlord issues; ability to inform clients and provide referrals to other local and state agencies/organizations that may also be able to provide them with needed services; possess effective conflict resolution skills; ability to learn and apply The University of Montana policies and procedures; demonstrated ability to operate personal computers, related word processing, spreadsheet and database software, with the ability to learn other software including website management; be able to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment and act with initiative demonstrated organization, time management, and multi-tasking skills and ability to meet deadlines in a busy environment with attention to detail; demonstrated ability to manage budgets; experience planning and organizing events; must be able to attend local, state, and national functions and professionally represent the Off-Campus Renter Center; ability to organize student renters as well as other housing advocates to meet OCRC housing policy goals

| Minimum Job Qualifications |

High school graduation and three (3) years related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Demonstrated knowledge of professional office practices and procedures, business English, spelling, composition, and grammar
Effective public relations, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships

Possess knowledge of or ability to learn the Montana laws pertaining to tenant/landlord issues
Ability to gather information through research and networking with other service providers

Ability to plan and organize related functions and events; prepare and produce promotional materials
