In Baker's photo, which received honorable mention in College Photographer of the Year, Highway Patrol officer Roger Hinckley takes a photo of the accident scene along U.S. Highway 2 where a red Ford Escort collided head-on with a Burlington Northern Sante Fe tractor-trailer about 13 miles west of Havre, Mont. The driver of the Escort, Heather Mowen, 25, of Havre, died at the scene. The trailer driver was not seriously injured.
