Faces Profile : Tess McEnroe

As a senior in the Photojournalism program, Tess McEnroe had to complete an internship in order to graduate. When a friend from the program suggested she go to Nepal to work at the Kathmandu Post, McEnroe jumped at the idea.

“The day I touched down, Nepal officially became a democracy, and a week before I left they swore in their first president,” said McEnroe.

While in Kathmandu, McEnroe covered the historic swearing-in, cultural events, and a demonstration calling for Tibetan independence from China.

Though the internship was unpaid, and flights to Nepal are not cheap, McEnroe said the experience was well worth the expense. “I just wanted to travel,” she said, “I got to see a country turn into a democracy.”
