Jim
Beyer is a senior
in the School of Journalism print program. “Senior
citizen is more like it,” he says.
Jim came
to Montana for a visit about 30 years ago but was rarely able
to leave. “There
were more bars than churches in this town, so I decided to
stay,” he says.
Jim has two lovely children. His daughter Sarah is a junior
at U of M. She is moderately embarrassed that her dad hangs
out
with her peer group. Jim’s son Myles is a sophomore at
Big Sky High School.
Jim chose journalism as a second (or third) career because
it will allow him to combine his love of traveling with a knack
for storytelling. He has already had short stories, articles
and photo essays published in Easyriders, Supercycle, BMW Owners
News and Thunderpress.
Jim has traveled from the tundra to the tropics, from Alaska
to Arabia and from Mexico to Moscow. “After I graduate,"
he says, "I want to see what the southern half of the world
looks like.”
