UM student takes 1st in Hearst

For the second year in a row, a UM broadcast student has placed first in a Hearst competition. Senior Melanie Overcast won for a package of radio features. Three other students from print and broadcast also won awards in the annual contest.

Kyrgyz scholar studies U.S. media

A journalist from Central Asia is spending the spring semester at the J-School in an effort to study rural media in the United States. Fulbright Scholar Kuban Taabaldiev hopes his work will further media freedom in Kyrgyzstan.
