Hull book readings scheduled
Jeff Hull, a J-School adjunct who teaches outdoor writing and magazine writing, will read from his new book "Streams of Consciousness," at the UC Bookstore on March 3 and at Fact & Fiction on March 9.
Hull graduated with a bachelor’s of fine arts in creative writing from Penn State, and came to the University of Montana to get his master’s after receiving a Fiction Fellowship.
Hull’s done freelance work for Atlantic Monthly, National Geographic Traveler, Outside, Travel & Leisure, Men’s Journal, Southern Review and various fly-fishing and sailing magazines. In 1994, he was nominated for a National Magazine Award by Atlantic Monthly. He also started a local newspaper in South Carolina while living and working there as a freelance sailing writer.
This is Hull’s second book. His first novel, “Pale Morning Done,” was released in June 2005. It follows the story of a fishing guide on his father’s ranch in Northwest Montana and his work to construct a spring creek that the fish will love. While the subplot has romance, bar fights and all that can be mixed up in the two, the book weaves fly-fishing at its best into the beautiful landscape that is Montana.
Hull’s new book is a collection of essays that follow his life and tell the story with a fly-fishing hook. He will be reading from and signing his latest book at the UC Bookstore on March 3 from 11:00-12:30, and at Fact & Fiction at 7 p.m. on March 9.
