Kaylee Porter, Reporter
Kaylee Porter is a junior at the University of Montana majoring in print journalism and political science. She came to Missoula for its proximity to alpine skiing, but says she stayed for the outstanding journalism program.
Working as a reporter for her hometown paper, the Laramie Boomerang, this winter helped solidify Porter’s goal to become a writer. She hopes to find an internship this summer writing for a mid-sized newspaper abroad.
Porter said she thinks a career in journalism offers the chance to perpetually experience new things. Her ultimate goal is to become a foreign correspondent. Growing up in small-town Wyoming makes the prospect of traveling internationally and writing about things that will have major impact truly exhilarating.
In her free time she enjoys skiing, rock climbing and playing the violin. As a part of the University of Montana alpine ski team, Kaylee competed at the 2007 USCSA Nationals. She has played the violin for 13 years.
