Lauren Russell, Reporter

Lauren Russell loves books, Montana, photographs, travel and adventure. She chose a print journalism major to satisfy her need for creative expression and her search for a challenging and fulfilling career, one that insures she will always be learning.

Her first journalism internship will take place in Missoula this summer after a long-anticipated study abroad trip to New Zealand.  It was a tough decision to stay, but ultimately the mountains, rivers and late summer nights spent laughing on front porches triumphed.  She has her sights set on publications in Portland and Seattle for Summer 2009.

Russell says she once dreamed of working for one of the thick glossy magazines she loves so much, but now knows that she can apply her skill at feature writing at different types of publications.  She wants to explore the Pacific Northwest region and return to Missoula to live and work.

A junior, Russell is struggling with her crazy schedule. In addition to writing for the J School Web site, she is also writing for Native News and the Montana Kaimin, searching for the spare moment to ski, play tennis, make ceramics and build a few of those essential, enduring college memories.  A diligent worker and student, she says she is trying to take herself a little less seriously and find joy in the everyday.
