Criminal justice reporter locks up Pollner professorship

Reporters who want to write stories with real-world impacts could learn much from next fall's Pollner professor. The Pollner committee selected Chicago Tribune reporter Maurice Possley for the position because of his experience covering criminal justice in Illinois and for writing stories that do more than just sway opinion -- they save lives.

Native American journalism Students end weekend forum jacked about journalism Native American journalists must straddle the line between their two worlds, a challenge that can be daunting. The J-school's new online class, which aims to increase the number of Indians in journalism, brought Native students from tribal colleges around the country to UM for an intense weekend of study, discussion and fun.
