McMillan’s Blue Man shot opens photo contest

Shane McMillan’s shadowy shot of a poncho-clad spectator at the raucous Blue Man Group concert Jan. 29 kicks off the Journalism News Web site’s 2008 photo contest. The online reporting staff chose the image to lead the page because it was technically sharp, visually distinctive and reflected a recent event on the University of Montana campus.

Other submissions, including Eric Oravsky’s open water swim shot and several still life and landscape compositions by Shannon Taylor can be see at http://picasaweb.google.com/umtjphotocontest/.

The deadline to enter for the March 15 posting is March 8. File submissions at umtjphotocontest@gmail.com. Please file large, .jpg files and include caption and contact information. A new winning photograph is posted on the Journalism School web site twice a month. No prizes other than public exposure and admiration are given.
