Century-old love affair with journalism
brings surprise gift to J-School

For years after she graduated from UM in 1907, Mary Fergus Hoffman nurtured her dream of becoming a journalist. Unable to achieve the dream herself, she passed on her love of journalism to young relatives. Now, almost 50 years after her death, Hoffman's passion for reporting will help the next generations of journalists, thanks to a generous gift to the Mansfield Library for journalism materials.
