Neel Deshpande is a senior in political science at UM. He moved to Montana three years ago from Nashville, Tenn., to take pictures and go to school and plans to graduate in May of 2008. When he graduates, Neel plans to apply for graduate programs in journalism as well as applying for jobs and internships at newspapers.
A self-proclaimed “news-junkie” Neel loves all thing news. His goal is to be a foreign correspondent, focusing on Central Asian politics. There are two major factors that influence Neel’s fascination with the region. First, Neel’s father is from India and Neel has traveled there with his family a dozen times. Second, the political science department offers multiple classes on the region, which has given him a strong background in the history and politics of the region.
There are no two ways around it: Neel has always wanted to pursue a career in journalism.
