RTV
students and programs reap awards
It's been a successful summer for students and student-produced
programs at the UM
Radio-TV department.
In June, last year's
student documentary, "Settling
the
Tab on Montana's Alcohol Culture," received the Montana Broadcasters
Association/Greater Montana Foundation E.B. Craney Award for outstanding
non-commercial television program of the year.

Also in June, the
National Academy of Television
Arts and Sciences-Northwest Chapter, meeting in Seattle, awarded a Student Emmy
to
an episode of "Business: Made
in Montana." Three UM student-produced
programs
were nominated for the award.
Also at the NATAS meeting in Seattle, junior
RTV major Andy Atkins of White Sulphur Springs received
a NATAS scholarship of
$2000. Professor Denise Dowling and Atkins were in Seattle
for the awards presentation.
Atkins and senior RTV major Sarah Cowan of Havre received
word earlier
this summer that have been selected as recipients of
the Great Falls
Broadcasters Association scholarships. Atkins will receive
$2000 and
Cowan will get $1000.
