Description: Under the Table is one of the longest running shows on KBGA; I inherited it back in September of 2008. My show is all about brand new hip hop releases. I’m the assistant music director in charge of hip hop, so I get new CDs from promoters, labels and even the artists themselves on a weekly basis. My goal is to pick out the good stuff and put it on the air! I also air an interview with a hip hop artist at the start of every show. Sometimes these interviews are in person when an act comes through town, but mainly I coordinate them by phone with the help of promotions companies like Spectre and The Foundation. I do interviews with some of the biggest icons in the indie rap scene, artists such as Tech N9ne, Myka 9, Sole, Zion I, Aceyalone, Guru, Mic Crenshaw, and Vyle. I also showcase local rappers like B Mune of Felony Records, Unique (out of Seattle), and Acee-Ville. These interviews talk a lot about the music, but the dynamic between these rappers and me (a middle class white kid from Arkansas) is always the most interesting part.
