ADVANCED LEGAL RESEARCH
LAW 615
2 credits

Professor Stacey Gordon
Professor Fritz Snyder

In this course students examine and evaluate important legal research tools and techniques not covered in the required first-year Legal Research course. The course provides an in-depth look at both print and electronic research tools in a variety of legal subject areas, with an emphasis on evaluating and comparing the usefulness of the tools. Much of the instruction is devoted to effective use of print and electronic research tools, including alternatives to LexisNexis and Westlaw. Each student prepares a pathfinder discussing the effectiveness of print and electronic research tools in resolving a legal question. Students also prepare and present a discussion of the most useful print and electronic research tools in a legal subject area.
