This seminar builds upon
the introductory course offerings in negotiations and
alternative dispute resolution and explores mediation
from the multidisciplinary lens of law, policy, psychology,
neuroscience, and microlinguistics. Grounding
our work in actual mediations conducted by the Mediation
Clinic, we will deepen our theoretical understanding
of mediation, continue skills-building as neutrals
and advocates in the process, and focus on such areas
as the nature and language of conflict; informed consent
and self-determination; norms and concept of “justice”;
cross-cultural dispute resolution; multi-party conflicts;
and the limits of mediation. |
