LEGAL HISTORY
LAW 636

Legal historians study historical influences on modern law. They also examine legal systems of the past: the rules, principles, and procedures adopted; their evolution; and their ultimate social effects.

The specific content of this course differs from time to time. Examples of previous topics are "Roots of the Montana Civil Code," "Roman Influence in American Law," and "Origins of the U.S. Constitution." Assessment is by class discussion plus either examination or original paper.
