REMEDIES
LAW 628
3 credits

Clients usually come to lawyers with a story of something that has happened, or that they want to have happen, and a request that the lawyer help them get what they want. Sometimes what clients want is to make someone do something or stop doing something; at other times, clients want money to compensate them for a harm, or punish someone for an egregious wrong.

The study of what can lawyers can do for clients is the study of Remedies – compensatory and punitive damages, injunctive relief, declaratory relief, restitution, as well as enforcement of judgments and methods of obtaining attorneys’ fees. It is a practical course that builds upon and reviews your knowledge of torts and contracts as well as other legal theories.
