Animal Law is the body
of law relating to animals and the interaction between
people and animals. Animal Law crosses
into many areas of law including Property, Torts, Constitutional
Law, Criminal Law, Contracts, Family Law and Wills & Trusts.
In many ways Animal Law issues are somewhat contradictory:
how can animals have rights but no standing to enforce
those rights? Do animal laws protect animals or people’s
interest in animals? In this course, students will
read, discuss, and think about Animal Law issues.
