Gaming Law represents a
narrow but substantial and growing aspect of the law,
just as gaming has increased in our society. The
course will focus on gaming law as it has developed
in Montana through case law, legislation, and tribal
involvement. During the first four meetings,
we will cover 1) Introduction and Overview, 2) The
Montana Regulatory Scheme, 3) Tribal Gaming, and 4) Problem
Gambling and Taxation. The final day will be
given over to student reports in areas not otherwise
touched on in the class. Students have the option
of either presenting a report in class or submitting
a short paper the following Monday. The course
is graded pass/fail, with passing a function of attendance,
participation, and the report or paper.
