Dean Eck has served as Dean of the School of Law since 1995. He came to the School of Law in 1984, after diverse experiences as judicial clerk, Assistant United States Attorney for Montana, and several years in private practice.
Dean Eck earned a B.A. in Government and International Relations from Carleton College, a J.D. from The University of Montana School of Law, and an LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
Among the courses he has taught are Estate Planning, Problems in Estate Planning, and Taxation of Corporations.
Dean Eck served as a Commissioner of the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws. He has been active in leading Montana legislative reforms in the area of trusts and estates.
