Professor Eck served as Dean of
the School of Law from 1995 to June 2009. He began
teaching at the School of Law in 1981, after
diverse experiences as Assistant United
States Attorney for Montana and several years in private
practice. Eck also served as a law clerk to U.S. District
Court Judge James F. Battin.
Eck earned a B.A. in Government and International
Relations from Carleton College, a J.D. from The University
of Montana School of Law, and an LL.M. in Taxation
from Georgetown University Law Center. He is
a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
Among the courses he has taught are Estate Planning,
Problems in Estate Planning, and Taxation of Corporations.
Eck serves as a Commissioner of the National
Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws.
He has been active in leading Montana legislative reforms
in the area of trusts and estates.
Under the sponsorship of Senator Max Baucus, President
Bush nominated Eck to be a member of the Internal Revenue
Service Oversight Board in 2008. |
