Blackboard FAQs
Q: How do I access Blackboard?
A: You can access Blackboard directly by going to http://www.umt.edu/xls/blackboard/. There is also a link to Blackboard on the IT Quick Links page.
Q: How do I login to Blackboard? What is my password?
A: You login to Blackboard using your NetID and the same password you use to access GrizMail.
Q: What do I have to do to have access to specific Blackboard pages?
A:Nothing. Students are automatically enrolled in the Blackboard pages for the courses they are registered for as well as all general Law School pages (e.g., Career Services, Law IT). Student organizations that wish to have Blackboard pages should arrange with James Cramer to have a page set up. James will enroll the organization's members. When you login to Blackboard, you will see a list of all the Blackboard pages you are enrolled in.
Q: What if I can't find the Blackboard page for a course I am registered for?
A: There are two likely reasons you may not be able to find a specific Blackboard page: either the course instructor has not made the page available, or somehow you did not get automatically enrolled. If it is near the beginning of the semester, it is possible your professor has not yet finished setting-up his or her Blackboard page and has chosen to make it unavailable until a later date. Check back later in the semester. Although Blackboard pages are automatically created for each Law School course, some faculty choose not to use them. Those pages are marked "unavailable" and are not visible to students. If you are sure there is a Blackboard page for the course and that it should be available, see James Cramer; he can make sure you are enrolled in the Blackboard page.
