FAQ: Passwords

Q: What is my login and password?
A: You will use the same login and password to access GrizMail, Blackboard and wireless. Your login is your NetID and your initial password is the last six digits of your student ID number (790-xx-xxxx). However, before you login to any of these resources for the first time, you should set a new password, and a security question through OneStop (formerly the UM Portal).

  1. Login to the OneStop using your NetID (e.g., ab123456) and password (initially the last six digits of your University ID) and click Login.
  2. At your first login, a welcome screen displays that prompts you to change your password and set up your security question.
  3. To change your password:
    a. Next to Current: enter your current password.
    b. Next to New: enter a new password (at least six characters).
    c. Next to Confirm: Confirm the new password by reentering it.
  4. To add a security question:
    a. Click on the drop down arrow next to Question to select your question. There are four options.
    b. Enter your answer in the Answer field. (Your answer is case sensitive.)
  5. Click GO and you are redirected to the UM Portal entrance page.
  6. Always remember to log out of theUM Portal by clicking Logout in the upper right corner.

To find your NetID:

  1. Go to Cyberbear.
  2. Click on "Personal Information."
  3. Click on "NetID (formerly SCAUID)."

Q: What if I forget my password?
A: If you forget your password, you can reset it through OneStop:

  1. Click on Forgot your Password?
  2. At the Password Reset page, enter your Username and click Continue.
  3. At the next screen, enter the answer to your security question, your new password and confirm the
    password by retyping it.
  4. Click Continue.
  5. The next screen confirms that your password was successfully reset.
  6. Be sure to log out by clicking Logout in the upper right corner.

Note: If you have not previously set a security question, you will not be able to reset a forgotten password. In that case, you must go to IT Central in Social Science 120, during business hours. Bring a photo ID for identification purposes.
University business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm (MST). An IT Central consultant will
initiate the password reset process for you which may take up to four business hours. To avoid this inconvenience
please setup your Security Question immediately. If you have additional questions, you may also contact IT
Central at 243-HELP (x4357).

Q: What if I want to change my password?
A: You can (and should) change your password through OneStop.

  1. Click on Change Your Password in the Quick Links box.
  2. Fill in the Change Password form. You can, but do not have to, also change your security question.
  3. Click on Continue.
  4. The next screen confirms that your password was successfully reset.
  5. Be sure to log out by clicking Logout in the upper right corner.
