Laptop Service and Repair

The IT Department provides full software and hardware support on recommended laptops, including on-site, next-day warranty repair. The also provide limited support on non-recommended laptops. Please see the IT Department Services & Policies for more information.

All law school classes and many law student organizations have Blackboard pages. Faculty use class Blackboard pages to post supplemental course materials, encourage out-of-class discussion, and disseminate course announcements. Many student organizations use their Blackboard pages to communicate with members and post announcements. To set-up a Blackboard page for your organization, contact James Cramer.

Podcasting

Law school faculty have the option of requesting that their classes be recorded and podcast either on a one-time or full-semester basis. Faculty can request that class podcasts be available only to students in the class (via their Blackboard course page) or publicly (via the IT Department Lecture Directory).

Video Editing

Some faculty also use video projects as a student assessment tool. Although the IT Department cannot provide editing services to video projects students turn in, they can train students to use the editing equipment. Contact Ed Wrzesien.

Equipment Check-Out

Students may check-out the following equipment from the IT Department. See Ed or Emmanuel in Room 184.

  • 3 VHS Cameras
  • 2 HI 8 Cameras
  • 5 Web Cameras
  • 10 Wireless Cards
  • 4 Large Tripods
  • 4 Small Tripods

Law School Exams

The law school gives students the option of using laptops to write their essay exams using ExamSoft software (also used by the Montana Bar for the bar exam). Virtually all law students take advantage of this opportunity. James Cramer and Ed Wrzesien have both worked extensively with ExamSoft in administering exams within the law school as well as the Texas and Montana bar exams. For law school exams, they:

  • assist students with downloading software
  • provide training to students
  • assist with administering exams and troubleshooting during exams.

Special Events

The law school hosts many speakers and other special events organized by students and faculty. The IT Department is happy to assist with the AV needs for these events with advance notice. You can request AV assistance when you schedule a room by scheduling an appointment with Ed Wrzesien and filling out the Room Request form at least two weeks before the event.
