She was married to Alex Lowe, a well-known mountain climber who died tragically in an avalanche in the Himalaya in 1999 that also almost killed his best friend, Conrad Anker. Alex, Jenni and Conrad's story has been featured on Dateline in a story by Tom Brokaw and in the film Endless Knot.
