About the Program
The University of Montana’s Department of Public Administration and Policy is housed within the Max S. Baucus Institute to provide a cutting-edge education for individuals interested in excelling in the public service profession. The department offers the Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree, which is typically required for many administrative positions in the public and nonprofit sectors; UM's MPA program is created to be flexible for pre-career and mid-career professionals.
The MPA degree requires completing 36 credits of course work and a portfolio project/exit interview. The MPA degree can be completed totally online (asynchronous or via robot) or totally on campus; or, completed using a combination of campus and online classes.
The department also offers graduate level certificates in public administration, public policy, and nonprofit administration, in addition to a nonprofit undergraduate minor.
