2019 Graduation & Hooding

The 2019 ceremony took place on Saturday, May 11, 2019, and kicked off with a processional led by the Celtic Dragon Pipe Band and a welcome by Paul Kirgis, Dean and Professor of Law. Benji and D.J. Headswift sang the American Indian Honor Song to honor the great accomplishments of the students. Associate Dean of Students and Professor Sally Weaver announced the student awards. A complete list of students and their graduation awards will be available shortly. Zac Hixson, voted on by the Class of 2019, delivered the student address, followed by Bob Carlson, ABA President, who delivered the commencement address. Carlson, a Butte lawyer and 1979 graduate of the law school, is currently serving as the president of the American Bar Association for the 2018-2019 term. Professor Andrew King-Ries announced the graduating class as Associate Dean of Students Sally Weaver bestowed their hoods. University of Montana President Seth Bodnar conferred the degrees, and a reception followed at the School of Law. View a slideshow of the ceremony below.
