Jessup Team Performs Well at Regional Competition

2016 Jessup TeamFord Hayes ‘17, Michael Pasque ’16, Diana Wall ’17, Anna Wallace ‘17, and Megan Winderl ‘17 represented the School of Law over the weekend for the regional Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition in Portland, OR. The team performed exceptionally well, qualifying for the quarter finals and ranking fifth place overall. Michael Pasque was awarded sixth place oralist and the team’s briefs ranked tenth. The top two teams from the Portland rounds will compete in Washington, DC against teams from over 80 countries.

The Jessup Competition is a simulation of a dispute between countries before the International Court of Justice in The Hague. This year’s cutting-edge issues included governmental electronic surveillance programs, detention under one country’s Terrorism Act, cyber-attacks, and seizure of a government-owned broadcasting station and its personnel.
