The articles on this page are selected based on the following criteria:
Each demonstrates scholarly rigor. Each is devoted, at least in part,
to examination of the original understanding or original meaning of the
Constitution or some portion of it. Each relies significantly on a wide
range of sources arising before or during the Founding Era (roughly defined
as ending with the effective date of the Bill of Rights: December 15,
1791). Thus, articles are excluded if they rely only on few Founding
Era sources, or on other commentators, post-Founding developments, or
perceptions of current desirability.
Viewpoints expressed are those of the author, and not necessarily those
of the website manager or any other person or institution.
