WSC Director Virada Somswasdi stands before the Center gallery

WSC was established in 1986 with the objective of supporting the empowerment of women in society, to increase understanding of the role of women, and to analyze the causes of oppression and disenfranchisement experienced by women, with a focus on law, human rights, and development.   Renowned for the excellence of its programs, WSC has extensive networks throughout Thailand to ensure that participants will be recruited from its northern region to the Muslim regions of the south.  Dr. Somswasdi also serves on Thailand’s Law Reform Commission.
