Confucius Institute at The University of Montana is collaborating with the Montana Digital Academy to make first- and second level Chinese language available on line in 2010-11 to ANY Montana high school student. All students including public, private, or home school can enroll free of charge. The language course use outstanding on-line software programs that include interactive spoken, listening and reading exercises. The on-line instruction is supplemented by small chat-room discussions with highly qualified resident Confucius Institute native speakers.

Dual credit:

The Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures will grant the equivalent of 5 credits of Chinese 102 for  Montana Digital Academy students who  meet all  requirements for satisfactory completion of Chinese Level II. Last year’s policy of offering 5 credits for Chinese Level I will no longer be in effect.
