Using Amplitude Equations to Solve Initial Value Problems over Long Time Intervals

Chen, Goldenfeld, and Oono (1996) suggested that their renormalization group method could be the universal technique for asymptotic analysis. Our work suggests that the amplitude equation approach may be even more central. Others might prefer averaging.
