NEW B.A. Program for Fall 2010

The newly redesigned B.A. addresses the need for students to acquire a more comprehensive understanding of the application of digital technologies in the arts. It combines the critical elements of the story driven Digital Filmmaking specialization with the artistic applications of the Integrated Digital Media specialization. This streamlining will better prepare Media Arts students for the constantly evolving technological environment and provide them with a solid overview and stronger foundation in the integrative aspects of media arts. A proposed B.F.A. to meet the needs of students wishing for a deeper concentration in either Digital Filmmaking or Integrated Digital Media is pending approval for Fall 2010.
In addition, the M.F.A. program now offers a specialization in Integrated Digital Media.

See below for further descriptions of our degree offerings.

The minor program has been streamlined to combine the IDM and DFM specializations. It also fulfills the prerequisites for those interested in pursuing the B.A. Please see the media arts minor heading under academics for more information on requirements.
The B.A. program has been redesigned to provide a streamlined curriculum with comprehensive course offerings, which combine both Digital Filmmaking and Integrated Digital Media. After completion of the prerequisite courses, there will be a G.P.A. gate-in effect for admission into the major. There is no longer a portfolio submission requirement for the B.A. Please see the requirement section under either digital filmmaking or integrated digital media for more information.
The proposed B.F.A. program is pending approval for Fall semester 2010.
This degree is designed to help extend and define the scope of undergraduate student work by allowing them to declare a path of specialization in either Integrated Digital Media or Digital Filmmaking.
The M.F.A. program has been redesigned to include a specialization path in Integrated Digital Media. It will continue to offer the Digital Filmmaking specialization as well. This change creates a more concentrated and effective academic program for graduate students who posses the skill and desire to perform at a professional level in their chosen area of study. Please see the graduate program heading under academics for more information on requirements, including the portfolio submission requirement.
The department also has a number of online courses and elective summer classes that provide students the opportunity to enhance the artistic part of their educational experience. Please visit the gallery to view a variety of graduate and undergraduate work that includes movies, still image designs, digital animations, and 2D and 3D motion projects.
